Inspect legacy DBF tables without importing a database.

DBF to CSV

Export dBASE III records to CSV with exact numeric text, deleted-row markers and spreadsheet formula protection.

Schema remains visible in the viewer; CSV contains record rows and their deletion state.

Three steps. One less thing to do.

Choose a DBF file

Open a dBASE III table up to 16 MB and select its text encoding.

Review records and schema

Search bounded record rows and inspect field types, widths, precision and deleted markers.

Export a usable copy

Download records as CSV or JSON, or an Excel workbook with records and schema.

A useful part of your workflow.

Legacy system migration

Inspect field definitions and exact numeric text before importing a DBF table elsewhere.

Data quality review

Filter record rows and identify deleted records without changing the source file.

Spreadsheet handoff

Export records with safe text cells and a separate schema sheet for colleagues.

A few useful answers.

The details that matter before you use DBF File Viewer.

Which DBF variants work?

This version accepts dBASE III header types 0x03 and 0x83 with character, numeric, float, date, logical and memo field descriptors. Other dBASE and FoxPro versions are withheld.

How is text encoding chosen?

Known language-driver bytes select Windows-1252 or IBM866. An unknown driver warns and defaults to Windows-1252; reopen the file with an explicit encoding if text looks wrong.

Are deleted records included?

Yes. Deleted records stay visible and exports include an explicit Deleted column, so no source row silently disappears.

Are memo values available?

No. Memo fields need a companion DBT file, which this single-file workspace does not yet accept. The schema and warning make this omission explicit.

Will large numbers be rounded?

No. Numeric and float fields remain strings in the model and text cells in Excel. CSV protects formula-like cells.

Does the file leave my device?

No. Parsing and exports happen locally. Row values, field names and filenames are excluded from analytics.

What are the limits?

One file up to 16 MB, 20,000 records, 128 fields and a 4,096-byte record length. Invalid or truncated structures fail clearly.
