Read survey data with its meaning intact.

SAV to Excel

Download SAV data with separate Data, Variables and Value Labels sheets.

Numeric codes remain values; labels and missing declarations are shown separately. Cells are text to avoid spreadsheet coercion.

Inspect data and metadata

Review raw codes, labels, missing declarations and bounded rows.

Export for review

Download a data CSV, a metadata workbook or a semantic JSON file.

A useful part of your workflow.

Survey triage

Check variables and values before moving a dataset into analysis software.

Codebook inspection

Read variable labels, value labels and missing declarations alongside data.

Spreadsheet handoff

Export accepted rows with metadata on separate workbook sheets.

A few useful answers.

The details that matter before you use Statistical Data Viewer.

Which statistical files work?

This draft supports bounded ordinary SPSS SAV files with numeric and string variables. Stata DTA, ZSAV and SAS files remain withheld.

Are codes replaced with labels?

No. Source values stay intact. Value-label mappings are displayed and exported separately.

How are missing values handled?

System missing remains distinct from declared user-missing codes. JSON records the distinction and preserves each variable's missing declaration.

Does CSV keep statistical metadata?

No. CSV contains the data table only. Use Excel or JSON for variable labels, value labels and missing metadata.

Are dates converted?

No. SAV date/time variables are withheld until raw numeric and format fidelity is independently verified.

Does the file leave this browser?

No. Parsing and exports run locally. Variable names, labels, values and filenames are excluded from analytics.

What are the limits?

One ordinary SAV file up to 5 MB, 20,000 rows, 128 variables and 100,000 cells. Unsupported structures fail before export.
