What is EXIF metadata?
EXIF stores information alongside an image, such as camera settings, dates and sometimes GPS coordinates. It can also include display orientation.
Can EXIF reveal my location?
Yes, if the camera saved GPS coordinates. Cleaning removes those embedded fields. It does not hide locations or identifying details visible in the picture itself.
Does cleaning EXIF reduce image quality?
No re-encoding takes place. JPEG scan data, PNG IDAT data and WebP compressed image payloads are preserved byte for byte. This is not image compression.
Are the pixels changed?
The compressed image payload is unchanged. Supported color profiles and display-critical chunks are preserved. A minimal orientation tag may remain so a portrait does not turn sideways.
Does my image get uploaded?
No. Images and metadata stay in your browser. No metadata values are sent to analytics.
Which formats are supported?
JPG/JPEG, PNG and WebP. HEIC, RAW, TIFF and other formats are not supported in this version. Damaged or unsupported containers are rejected.
Is absolutely all metadata removed?
Private EXIF, GPS, XMP and textual metadata are removed. Color profiles and minimal display orientation may remain intentionally. Inspect the visible picture for private content before sharing.
How many photos can I clean at once?
Choose up to 20 JPG, PNG or WebP images, up to 25 MB per file. Download cleaned copies separately or together in a ZIP; your original files are not overwritten.
